Identity

Where do you find your identity?

More importantly, where do you think you should you find your identity?

I would love for all and any of you who reads this to answer those questions, either rhetorically, or (preferably in a comment). :) I would like to see what you guys have to say. I am planning on thinking about this and posting another blog about it later... so long as I get responses!! ;) I will also add my thoughts on the matter.

Every breath is Holy (part of God's will), remember that today... think about what that really means. (I'll probably write more on that later too. I wish I could write all of these blogs now, but its midterms! I am also about to go to my RA interview! Prayers are graciously welcome!)

I truly love you all,

Jennifer

  2. I am so blessed to know you because I will get to talk to you personally about this question you pose, about where I find my identity/where I should find it. My mind immediately goes to Christ; I believe it's ultimately and ideally in Him that I [should] find my identity. But your question is sooo deep! What I want to do and try to do, as compared with what I actually do, is not always consistent--unfortunately, maybe, but human. We can learn from each experience.

Personally, I would like to bridge the gap better and intentionally eliminate some of the disparity I can identify surrounding where I find my identity. A lot starts with who and what I intentionally choose or inadvertently allow to influence me every day.

A lot of truth and insight will emerge regarding who we choose to hang with, and how/how much we invest our time with people and the things we do each day. As far as who/how or what we too will become (like), or at least resemble in some ways, It will become apparent to whom or what we identify. Getting into our own minds, hearts, and souls/spirits is a profound investigation. There are so many ever-changing, as well as constant--some more solid, while some predictably thematic--influences out there to which we can and do identify. While this discovery can be a good or a bad thing, it definitely is an eye-opening probe, for those of use who want to really look within. Our periodic self-assessments can be good change-agents--a way and a time to consider trying to eliminate the superficial/vices we see within ourselves. At the same time, we can embrace and further develop our good qualities. It's never too late to adopt some new virtues which we want to be part of our character, as well.

Thanks for your open-ending question! It invites great dialogue, and really will help a lot of people to develop or to strengthen their character, if that is something they are at a place where they want to do so in their lives.
In a world bursting with self-improvement and extreme-makeovers and life-coaaches and goal-setting, it seems like many of us are not satisfied with who we are at any given time. All the more reason to take steps to identify and hold fast to that which we know is good, constant, and everlasting.
